Hello! My name is Cristian. I am a U.S. citizen living in Japan and
working as an English teacher in the small town of 田子町. As of writing I
am 29 years old, and have lived here for almost 3 years.
こんにちは！クリスチャンです。アメリカ出身で、日本にある田子町という小さな町で英語の先生をしています。これを書いている時点で29歳で、ここに住んで3年近くになります。
Hi, my name is Cristian. I am from the U.S. and I live in Japan. I am an
English teacher in a small town called 田子町 (Takko-machi). I am 29 years
old. I have lived here for almost 3 years.
Why This Blog?なぜこのブログを？Why This Blog?
I have been able to experience some amazing, and not so amazing things
since coming here, and I've always wanted to document them in a way that
feels more tangible than an Instagram post. Thus, I decided to make this
blog. I have studied web development a bit, but when it comes to writing
and taking pictures, I'm a complete amateur! So I hope I can keep it
interesting.
ここに来てから、素晴らしいことも、そうでもないことも、色々なことを経験してきました。そして、インスタグラムの投稿よりももっと形に残る方法で記録したいとずっと思っていました。そこで、このブログを作ることにしました。ウェブ開発は少し勉強したことがありますが、文章を書いたり写真を撮ったりすることに関しては、全くの素人です！なので、楽しんでもらえるような内容を続けられたら嬉しいです。
Since I came to Japan, I have had good and bad experiences. I wanted to
write about them in a way that was more than just an Instagram post. So, I
made this blog. I know a little about making websites, but I am new to
writing and taking photos. I hope you think it is interesting.
Takko-machi田子町Takko-machi
Like many towns in the Japanese countryside, Takko is slowly dwindling in
population. Since coming here the population has already dropped by 10%,
and 2 of the remaining 3 elementary schools closed down! I might very well
be one of the last English teachers to work here, and foreigners to ever
live here.
日本の多くの田舎町と同じように、田子町の人口は少しずつ減っています。僕がここに来てから、人口はすでに10%も減少し、残っていた3つの小学校のうち2つが閉校になりました！僕がここで働く最後の英語教師の一人、そしてここに住む最後の外国人の一人になるかもしれません。
Takko is a small town in the country. Like many small towns in Japan, its
population is getting smaller. Since I came here, the population dropped
by 10%. There were 3 elementary schools. Now, only 1 is open. Maybe I will
be one of the last English teachers here, and one of the last foreigners
to live here.
My Vision僕のビジョンMy Vision
Inspired by websites like NHK easy, I want to expand this site so that each post has not only a Japanese
translation, but a version that is written in very simple English that
hopefully even some of my students can read. I also want to make
complimentary videos for each post. For now though, I just want to get
some posts out there!
NHK easyのようなウェブサイトに影響を受けて、このサイトを拡張して、各記事に日本語訳だけでなく、とても簡単な英語で書かれたバージョンも載せたいと思っています。うまくいけば、僕の生徒たちも読めるような。各記事に合わせたビデオも作りたいです。でも、今のところは、まずは記事をいくつか公開したいです！
I was inspired by websites like NHK easy. I want every post to have a Japanese version and a version with very
simple English. I hope my students can read the simple English version. I
also want to make a video for each post. But for now, I just want to write
some posts!
